A male resident on Pecan Street called police on Jan. 11 at 4:12 p.m. to request a civil standby while his wife removed her belongings. While the officer was there, the couple began talking and worked things out.
A 60-year-old Pecan Street resident phoned police on Jan. 12 at 3:30 p.m. after hearing a loud noise from outside and finding that a row of mailboxes for a nearby apartment complex had been run over. The man, however, did not see the vehicle.
A 26-year-old Alvarado resident was taken into custody on Jan. 12 at 7:40 p.m. for driving while license invalid. The woman was originally stopped for a routine traffic violation, but dispatch showed her license was under suspension, and that she had been charged with the offense 13 times previously. She was subsequently arrested for the charge, and the vehicle was picked up by the driver’s father.
A resident on Pecan Street called police on Jan. 15 after several men had come to her residence and started a verbal altercation that made her very uneasy. The woman told the officer that the men claimed they had been run off the road by the truck in the driveway on the previous Tuesday. The woman, however, advised that her husband drives the truck and was in Commerce on Tuesday. The officer contacted the lead suspect of the group and advised that if he or any of the other men went back to the location, action would be taken, which could include going to jail.
An officer was dispatched to the junior high gym on Jan. 15 after a verbal disturbance was reported. Upon arrival, the officer was advised that the problem was taken care of and those involved had left the gym. The officer stuck around for a few minutes to ensure things stayed calm.
A resident on Connett Street called police after hearing a loud noise coming from the carport area of the residence. The officer checked the carport, shed and backyard but was unable to locate anyone or anything suspicious.
A Leonard officer assisted Trenton police with serving a felony warrant on Jan. 15. The warrant was for a probation violation, and stemmed from an incident in Leonard a few weeks ago.
Two female residents called police on Jan. 15 at 10:05 p.m. after each received suspicious texts and phone calls. The first female advised she received a text message from a person who stated they had found her phone. She advised she had not lost her phone, at which time the person started cursing at her and being rude through text messages. A few minutes later, the other woman advised a call came into her phone from a number that matched that of the first complainant, but their phone was sitting on the bed. When she answered, she heard a man’s voice on the other end who at first claimed to be in Trenton, but then stated he was in front of the complainant’s house and was coming to kill them. The officer checked the area around the home and was unable to find anything. He advised the women to call again should they receive any additional texts or calls.
A 23-year-old resident was arrested for driving while intoxicated on Jan. 16 at 4:05 a.m. An officer stopped the vehicle on State Highway 78 after it was traveling 71 miles per hour in a 60 miles per hour zone. Upon first approach, the officer observed signs of intoxication. Three field sobriety tests were performed where the driver was unable to follow directions and eventually requested that the officer take him to jail immediately. This was the drivers second offense for DWI.
