June 23, 2011 - Members of the CJHS Future is Now technology team traveled to Mesquite Poteet High School on June 8th and 9th to share, with other school districts, ways in which they have incorporated technology into the classroom. Twelve students and six faculty members participated in the Region 10 technology program led by international technology leader Alan November.

The team attended two full days of intense technology training to learn the latest and greatest Web 2.0 tools. The goal of the project was for the team to come back and share and use what they had learned in the classroom. In the spring, the team taught their classmates about an educational social networking group called Diigo where they collaborated on the best Internet sites for research. They created Web 2.0 Jing online tutorials for the CISD website that students and teachers can access, and they created a Wiki website called CJHS: We are the Future to showcase the tutorials and examples. The students actually switched rolls from student to teacher as they presented and assisted with the 4th grade animal research technology project and then created a Wiki website for the 4th grade to showcase their Web 2.0 tech projects. The team will be presenting at the annual CISD summer tech camp for teachers on June 30th, and in the fall, they plan to create a Wiki on cyber-bullying and internet/mobile device safety for CISD students and teachers. The students received their choice of an iPod Touch (4th generation), flip camera and $100 iTunes gift card, $200 iTunes gift card or a $200 Apple gift card for participating in the project.
