Bob Barnard Elected President 1st Nat'l Bank

Robert B. (Bob) Barnard was elected president of the Celeste First National Bank in a meeting of directors of the bank Wednesday, June 3, 1981.

Other changes include the elections of Bill Stevens of Dallas as Chief Executive Officer, David Kent, Celeste, new employee in training as a lending officer, and Albert Granberry, retiring as president after 19 years, 35 years total. He is now Chairman of the Board.

Barnard is a native of Celeste, with a background in the local bank. His late grandfather, Frank, was assistant cashier. His father, Bill has served on the Board of Directors for 24 years. Barnard has served as lending officer for the 9 years of employment here. He served part-time while attending college at A&M University where he earned his B.S. degree in Agriculture and Economics, in 1972. He has since become a graduate in 1980 of the S.M.U. Intermediate Banking School.

Barnard's interested have always been in his home community. Family, church, school, business and the promotion of athletics have been his concern.

His wife is the former Reba Graham of Greenville. They have a son, Christopher Graham, 10 months old. Mrs. Barnard is a fourth grade teacher in the local school. Their newly built home is on formerly owned family land east of town.

It's A Girl

Ted and Londa Hunter of Greenville announce the birth of a daughter, Lora Lee, born May 27, 1981. She weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz.

Grandparents are Dora Hunter and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ledbetter of Greenville.

Great-grandmother is Mrs. J. J. Griffis of Celeste.

Joey Michael Roden Celebrates 4th Birthday

Joey Michael Rhoden, son of Eugene and Kim Rhoden, celebrated his fourth birthday on June 8. On Sunday, chocolate cake and punch were served to Allen, Lisa, Nathan, and Leigh Ann Wolfe; Virginia Morton; John, Martha and Christi Morton; Joe Morton; Dorothy Rhoden; Hubert Rhoden; Kenneth and Nikki Finley; honoree and parents.

Billy Neut Barnard Celebrated Birthday With Party Saturday

Billy Newt Barnard, 8-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Barnard, celebrated his birthday with a baseball party at his home last Saturday afternoon.

Billy wanted a baseball game of four boys only - two boys to each side, so he invited three friends, Stevie Armstrong, James LaFavers and Russell Compton.

Billy's older brother, Bob, is a Little Leaguer and Billy is very fond of baseball, too. His grandmother, Mrs. Mildred Barnard, gave him a real baseball, all for his own.

Billy's favorite cake, a honey spice, was decorated with icing, baseball and candles.

The three guests, Mrs. Mildred Barnard, Billy's teacher, Mrs. Jestena Hunter, Billy and his mother enjoyed the party.

Beverley Stapleton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Stapleton, had the misfortune to break her arm while playing at Vacation Bible School at Hickory Creek.

Celeste Students Collect 73 Bags For Goodwill Ind.

Students in the Celeste Elementary School collected at total of 73 bags of discarded clothing in their recently completed School Clothing Day drive to benefit the handicapped men and women employed at Goodwill Industries.

Materials collected in the drive will be reconditioned by the handicapped employees in Goodwill's workshops, then placed for sale in the agency's non-profit stores.
