Nan Chambliss Receives Thursday Club Award

This year's Thursday Club Award was presented to Nanette Chambliss at graduation ceremonies on Friday night, May 29.

Nan is an honor graduate who has been active in many school activities; Pep Squad for four years, being head majorette her senior year, basketball for four years, track for three years, F.H.A. for four years, class officer for three years and annual staff business manager. Classmates honored her by electing her Miss Celeste High School.

The $100 award is given to a student who enrolls in a college school and does not receive other monetary assistance. Nanette plans to attend East Texas State University in the fall.

Kingston, Calhoun & Civic Center Reunion

The Kingston, Calhoun and Civic Center is having its Twentieth Annual Reunion and all former teachers, students, residents and their descendants are cordially invited to attend. Also, those now living in Kingston are invited to be present.

Bring your old pictures and memories. Also, bring that new picture of child, grandchild, or would it be great-grandchild to show off.

This shindig is being held at the Kingston Community Center and the doors will be open at 9:30 a.m. on June 7.

Bring picnic lunch - coffee and tea will be furnished by the Center.

Enter Red Arrow Vacation Event At Gaulden Drug Store

An all expense trip for three to the fabulous Disneyland Hotel will be awarded the grand prize winner in Red Arrow Vacation Value Days. Over $5,000 in additional valuable free prizes will be featured in this regional event, sponsored locally by Gaulden Drug.

The grand prize winner will receive a first class round-trip flight for three to Los Angeles via American Airlines 707 Astrojet. The 707 Astrojet is the most advanced, most dependable jetliner in the world. From Los Angeles, they will be flown by helicopter to the Disneyland Hotel across from Disneyland Park for two nights' accommodations plus $100 spending money, admission to Disneyland and 10 free rides.

Second prize is a $250 wardrobe by Howard Wolf including youthful, but sophisticated suits, dresses and sportswear. A matched set of Samsonite luggage is the third prize.

Hundreds of valuable prizes will be awarded runners-up. These include electric can openers, toasters, coffee-makers, electric irons and many other articles valued from $10 to $15.

Pvt. Billy A. Biggs Participates In Armed Forces Day

Army Pvt. Billy A. Biggs, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Biggs, Celeste, Tex., participated with other members of the Old Guard precision drill team from Fort Myers, Va., in "Pageant Patriots," at the Armed Forces Day show held at Andrews Air Force Base, Md., May 13-14.

In addition to drill maneuvers, the pageant included acts depicting a day in the life of a Revolutionary War solder in the history of the U. S. Army since 1776 accompanied by musical arrangements by the U. S. Army Band and Chorus.

Biggs entered the Army last September, completed basic training at Fort Hood, Tex., and is regularly assigned to the 3d Infantry's Honor Guard Company at Fort Myer.

He is a 1956 graduate of Celeste High School and was employed by Cagle Brothers & McWinters in Johnson City, before entering the Army.
