June 16, 2011 - On June 8, the Leonard ISD School Board of Trustees met at 6 p.m. with a quorum of board members. The meeting began with the swearing in of reelected board members Bill Watson and Buster Sudderth, with district business manager Janna Layman performing the ceremony. James Watson made a motion to keep the same officers for the board and the motion was seconded and passed. Those officers are Bill Watson, president; Jack Bonds, vice-president; and Amy Boggs, secretary.

The Leonard Elementary campus received recognition of a Distinguished Title I school and a plaque was presented to Brad Maxwell, principal, by Layman. Principals from all four campuses were on hand to present the preliminary TAKS tests results and give an explanation of steps to be taken to improve those test scores.

Board member Amy Boggs made a motion to accept Claims Administrative Services, Inc. for the Worker's Compensation for the plan year 2011-12.

Bids on a contract for a school depository were sought, and American Bank of Texas submitted a proposal, with the First National Bank of Trenton declining. The board voted to temporarily accept American Bank of Texas, but ask around for more bids. Consent items were passed on all counts.

The board members and others present were served chicken wings and pork on a stick with other trimmings by Cathy Cox.
