City Council calls May election for three seats

Feb. 17, 2011 - In the February meeting of the City Council the members voted to call an election for May 14, for the purpose of electing three City Council members for the City of Leonard. The terms will be two, two-year terms and one, one-year term left vacant from the previous election when no one applied for the place vacated by Richard Johnson. The two terms up for election are the places now filled by Steven Bolin and Larry Thompson.

Residents of the City of Leonard who are interested in serving their community in the capacity of a city council person may pick up an application and return the completed application and pay the filing fee at the City Hall from now until March 14 at 5 p.m.

In other action, the council declared Feb. 20 through 26 Severe Weather Awareness Week (see page 3 for more information and the official proclomation). A report was given on the street and sidewalk work ongoing throughout the town and City Administrator Butch Henderson also provided astatus repot from the Red River Groundwater Conservation district.
