April 28, 2011 - A handful of Leonard residents, joined by four members of a Southern Baptist Church in Rockwall, were called by the Southern Baptists of Texas Disaster Relief (SBTDR) program to go to Strawn during the recent wildfires, feeding 1600 meals a day in this location. They were helping the Salvation Army feed the volunteer firemen and women at the Strawn Fire Station. After four days at Strawn, they were relocated to Mineral Wells. Residents pictured are (from left) Glenn James, Terry James, Donna McBroom, David McBroom, David Norman, and (second from the right) Bill Lindsey. Each one of these individuals have been trained by the SBTDR to respond to crisis areas with a feeding unit. - Photo courtesy of SBTC Disaster Relief
