Miss DeLores Fugitt, Johnny Chapman Engagement Told

Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Fugitt of Celeste this week announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, DeLores Ann, to Johnny Glenn Chapman, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. K. Chapman of Floyd.

The scene of the wedding will be the Hickory Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Joe Carmen will conduct the ceremony at eight o'clock in the evening Friday, June 30, 1961.

No formal invitations will be issued but all friends and relatives of the couple are invited to attend the wedding and reception.

Miss Fugitt is a 1961 graduate of Leonard high school and Mr. Chapman graduated with the 1960 class at Bland high school.

VBS Program And Open House Friday At Methodist Church

Parents and friends of children attending the Vacation Bible School at the First Methodist Church this week are invited to the closing program at 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 16, at the church. Open house will be held following the program.

Fifty-nine children and 20 workers attended on Monday afternoon, the first day. There has been an increase in attendance each day.

The Methodist and Presbyterian Churches are sponsoring the school and several from other churches are attending.

Mrs. Doyle Dunn and Mrs. Verna Simpson are directors.

Good Attendance At VB School

Church of Christ minister L. R. Fullerton reports attendance is very good at Vacation Bible School at the church each morning this week. On Monday the first morning 63 pupils enrolled. Each day has seen more attending.

The school will close Friday.

Savoy College Will Hold Reunion Again

Ex-students of Savoy College agreed Sunday to keep their reunion alive at least one more year.

Only eight former students registered for the reunion held Sunday and the members held a memorial service for the six students who died during the past 12 months.

Mrs. Annie Halsell Woodward of Durant, Okla., was re-elected president of the ex-students association, as all officers were returned for another year. Mrs. Woodward is the daughter of the colleg's founder, the late Professor Halsell.

Other officers include Glenn Moore Hodge of Bonham, vice president; Mrs. Beulah Stinnett, Van Alstyne, E. O. Harlin, Waureka; Mrs. Alfa Jenkins, Savoy; Mrs. Rose Matthews and Mrs. Lara Carter, Dallas; and Mrs. Cora Conway, Leonard.

There were 39 visitors registered from Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, most of them relatives of the former students.
