End Of School Activities Begin Here; Baccalaureate Services To Be May 21st

Baccalaureate services for 1961 seniors will be held in the Leonard High School Auditorium on May 21, 1961 at 8:00 P.M. Richard Norton, head of Baptist Student Center at East Texas College, Commerce, will be the speaker.

Commencement services will be held on Thursday evening, May 25, 1961, at 8:00 P.M. in the same auditorium.

Dr. J. E. Franklin will give the address. He is head of the Department of Secondary Education at East Texas State College, Commerce.

Dr. Franklin is a former teacher at the University of Texas, Baylor University and San Marcos Academy. He was president of the Academy four years of the seven years he was associated with it.

The class is composed of the following: Gayle Branscome, Linda J. Duncan, Lou Evans, DeLores Fugitt, Glenda Greenwood, Charlsey Grounds, Patricia Haynes, Linda Howell, Mauridell Hutton, Saundra McCaslin, Frances Stevens, Patsye Walls, Jimmy Greenwood, Jim Leinart, David McBroom, Bobby McCaslin, Donald Parks, Gary Petty, Mac Ready, Ronnie Robinson, Bob Rogers, Wayne Ruff and Jean Toney.

The seniors plan to leave May 26 for an eight-day trip to Carlsbad, New Mexico and Colorado Springs, Colorado, returning via Dodge City, Kansas and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The trip will be made by school bus, with all expenses, except food, paid out of class funds. The students have sponsored cake sales, sold Christmas cards, prepared banquets, and presented a Senior Play, as the major means of obtaining money for their trip. Approximately eighteen of the twenty-three class members will make the trip.

Rev. U. C. Broach Is Interim Pastor Of First Baptist Church

Rev. U. C. Broach will be interim pastor of the First Baptist Church until a full-time pastor is called.

The church has been without a pastor since the resignation of Rev. Bruce Cushman several days ago.

Charles Ray is the name of the son born to Mr. and Mrs. Billie Joe Thomas of Fort Worth Monday, May 8, 1961. He weighed 9 pounds.

Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Thomas of Leonard are paternal grandparents.

Son for Prices

Alan Thomas is the name of the son born to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Price of Nacogdoches on May 4th. He weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces.

The maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Gray of Nacogdoches and the paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Price of Leonard.

Miss Barbara Lee Ayers

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur L. Ayers of McKinney announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Barbara Lee, to Ray Lane Pell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Owen R. Pell of Plano.

The wedding will be an event of June 30, 1961 at the North Baptist Church in McKinney. The bride-elect is a graduate of McKinney High School and is employed by the State Department of Public Welfare in McKinney. Mr. Pell is a graduate of Plano High School. He is employed by Western Electric in Dallas.

The couple plan to make their home in McKinney.

Miss Ayers is a granddaughter of Mrs. Etta Bates and Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ayers of Leonard.
