Constable Morris Issues Warnings Of Illegal Sales Here

Constable Wade Morris says he has received numerous complaints from citizens about local people being affected by the use of rubbing alcohol, extracts, Bay Rum, and canned heat.

Morris has warned the local merchants of the danger involved when people purchase these products for human consumption.

County Attorney Tibby Wright stated "a person who is convicted for knowingly selling these products for human consumption faces a fine of $100 to $1,000.00, or one year in prison, or both."

The Constable said he is asking the co-operation of merchants in this serious matter as an effort in curbing the purchase of such items by users in this area.

Mrs. Butts Receives B. S. Degree at E.T.

Mrs. Emma La Dell Butts received her Bachelor of Science degree at commencement exercises at East Texas State College at Commerce January 25.

Mrs. Butts is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jones of Leonard. She was an Elementary Education major and was graduated with honors.

Rules Changed For Candidates Filing For School Trustee

The old 10-day law concerning filing of candidates for their name to appear on a ballot for election in trustee elections has been changed to a longer period of 30 days.

Fannin County Judge Choice Moore calls everyone's attention to the fact that the law now provides:

"That any person desiring to have his name placed on the original ballot as a candidate for the position of trustee of a Common School District, or an Independent School District, must file his name at least thirty (30) days before the election. A written request must be filed with the County Judge and the said request must be signed by five (5) or more resident qualified voters in the School District."

This notice is given to the public since there might be some people who still think that the old ten-day law is in effect.

Miss Shirley Terry New Elem. Teacher In Leonard School

Miss Shirley Terry is the new elementary teacher replacing Mrs. Charles Routh, who resigned at mid-term.

Miss Terry is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Terry of Sulphur Springs. She is a graduate of Miller Grove high school and received her degree at East Texas State College, Commerce, where she was a Physical Education major.

In her first year of teaching she is seventh grade room teacher and teaches sixth grade geography.

Miss Terry is living in the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. R. McCord.
