New Homes Being Built In Leonard

Mr. and Mrs. Mac Grimes are building a new home on Main Street next door to the C. A. Edwards family.

Mr. and Mrs. Noble Cook are beginning construction of a new home after razing their old home in the northwest part of town.

Mr. and Mrs. Howard Stokes will build a new home on Travis Street between the homes of Mrs. Fred White and Mrs. Jim Hughes.

New Arrival

Rev. and Mrs. Jerry W. Lemon announce the arrival of a baby girl, Cheryl Rhae, on January 5, 1961, at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth. The baby weighed 8 lbs. 2 ozs. The Lemons have another child, Wayne, two years old.

Nat Alexander Buys Christian Barber Shop In Leonard

Mrs. Guy Christian announces the sale of Guy Christian Barber Shop to Nat Alexander. Mr. Alexander is a native of the Hickory Creek Community and has been living in Dallas where he was employed. The new owner holds a Master Barber license and operates the business here. He and his family, wife and three children, plan to move to Leonard around February 1. The family will attend First Baptist Church here. Mrs. Christian has expressed her thanks to the people of Leonard and area for the patronage extended her late husband, and invites the public to patronize Mr. Alexander.

Deadline For Paying Poll Tax January 31
Henry J. Fletcher, Fannin County Tax Assessor-Collector, will be at the City Hall in Leonard on Wednesday, January 25, from 9 A.M. till 12 noon for the convenience of those wanting to pay their poll taxes.

In a letter from Speaker Sam Rayburn he expressed concern about people in this area not paying their taxes this year since it was an off year. "The fact that we are electing a United States Senator for a six year term makes it important for our part of the country to have as large a vote as possible," the Speaker said.

The deadline for paying your poll tax is January 31, 1961.
