Graveside services for Mary "Oneta" Holt, 92-year-old Trenton resident, were held Sunday, Jan. 22, at 2:30 p.m. at Burns Cemetery in Trenton. Dan Gurley officiated and Tom Mc Holmes provided special music. Holt went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 18, 2012, passing away peacefully in the home of her daughter, with her family at her bedside.

Holt was born Aug. 22, 1919, to Joe and Myrtle Rodgers in Randolph. She attended and graduated from Randolph High School where one of the things she enjoyed most was playing basketball. She married Burr Frank Holt on Jan. 15, 1938, in Bailey. They made their home in Trenton, where they raised their three children, Joe, Gary and Brenda. Holt was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Trenton and cherished her many life long friends and neighbors. She was a homemaker and took great pride in taking care of her family. She also worked at Hennington Publishing Company in Wolf City from 1962 - 1974. She enjoyed sewing, walking and anything to do with nature. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and a good friend. She always looked for the good in others and lived her life with grace, dignity and honesty. She was a precious lady and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gary and Dee Holt of Greenville; her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Leal Knight of Saginaw; her brother and sister-in-law, Bobby J. and Addie Rodgers of Farmersville; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister-in-laws, Jewell Chesser of Grand Prairie, Lucille Reed of Desoto, Bobby Jean Rodgers of Denison, Iva Rodgers of Delray, Va.; and several caring and loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Holt was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Burr Frank Holt; son, Joe L. Holt; and brothers, Billy Joe Rogers and Leslie Earl Rodgers.

Pallbearers were Bobby Pemberton, Lynn Pemberton, Leslie Pemberton, Keenan Knight, Wesley Knight and John Williams. Honorary Pallbearers include Gerald West, Harold West Jr., Mike West, Kim Rodgers, Ricky Rodgers and Jerry Rodgers.

 

The family would like to express their great appreciation to Encompass Home Health and Community Hospice of Fort Worth, who provided her with wonderful nursing care and helped make it possible for her to remain at home with her family the last few years of her life.
