Feb. 10, 2011 - Funeral services for Evelyn Maxine Smith, 80, of  Leonard, were held Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 2 p.m. at the Leonard Church of Christ with Charles Wrenn and Steven Medford officiating. Burial followed in the Leonard Cemetery. She passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at the Red River Regional Hospital in Bonham. 

Smith was born Jan. 16, 1931, in Lamasco, daughter of William Howard and Emma Rachel Dodson Smith. She married Purvis Alvin Smith Jan. 16, 1987, at Farmersville. She was a high school graduate, a retired clothing inspector with Haggar Slack Company and a member of the Leonard Church of Christ. 

Smith is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Wayne and Carol Kuhn of Breckenridge; daughters, Joyce McEuen of Wylie and Jane Howell of Van; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Betty Smith of Lamasco; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mammie Jo and Bobby Dunn of Gober and Jane and Dean Newman of Jackson, Mo.; brother-in-law, Dennis Griffith of Farmersville; grandchildren, Scott, Brian and Katrina Tribble, Jennifer Freeman, Debbie Cyganik, David and Steve Womack; great-grandchildren, Braiden, Emory, Kadence and Ella Beth Tribble and Kaden Collin Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. 

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rachel Griffith; two brothers, James Smith and a brother who died as an infant.

Family visitation was held from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7 at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel in Leonard.
