Horseman's Association of Texas (HAT) president Stephanie Staton announced Jan. 11 that HAT will be working with several Fannin County organizations in 2011. According to Staton, HAT will partner with the Fannin County 4-H in the production of several open horse shows and equestrian clinics throughout the year. Working with

Fannin County Extension Agent Roger Skipper, HAT will manage these events, which provide both educational and competitive experiences. Several Fannin County 4-H groups will supply volunteers, participants and general support.

Tommy Eskue, president of the Fannin County Fair Board, and the Fannin County Multi-Purpose Board of Directors, have agreed to the use of the Fannin County Multi-Purpose Complex for these events. Through this agreement, a horse show will again be held during the Fannin County Fair. This October 5 event will be under HAT management and will feature trophy buckles in three categories.

These agreements simultaneously support the goals of HAT, the Fair Board, the Multi-Purpose Complex, and 4-H. The proposed events offer educational opportunities, promote the equine industry, provide recognition of the Bonham area, and increase the use of the complex.

HAT is a not-for-profit organization that consists of horse owners and enthusiasts in the Texoma area. HAT members have interests in a wide variety of horse breeds, disciplines, and activities. Its purposes are to promote good horsemanship, sportsmanship, and fellowship among horse owners. HAT also promotes the growth and ongoing development of the equine industry in the Texoma region.
