LISD receives Rural Technology Grant

Feb. 3, 2011 - The Leonard Independent School District was recently awarded a Rural Technology Grant. The Rural Technology Grant is designed to improve the performance of those students not currently meeting standards in English language arts, social studies, mathematics, science or languages other than English and to supplement the education of students needing more opportunities than currently provided by the district. The purpose of the program is to establish pilot programs to provide technology-based supplemental instruction, including online courses, to students in rural school districts to improve the overall success of students and address their individual academic needs.

Feb. 3, 2011 - My NutriKids pay online is now available to all staff members and parents of students enrolled in Leonard ISD. This program allows staff and parents to view balances, transaction history and make online payments for their lunch accounts.

 

Roberts wins Sportsmanship at FWSSR

Spencer Roberts, an FFA member from Leonard, received the Showmanship Award in the Junior Maine-Anjou Show at the 2011 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo on Jan. 23, 2011.  The 2011 Show is proud to be hosting nearly 10,000 junior exhibitors from across Texas, competing for prizes and $91,585 in premiums.

 

LISD honors school board for recognition month

Feb. 3, 2011 - January was School Board Recognition Month to help highlight the contributions of dedicated men and women who take the time to care about our local schools. It is a good time to focus on the crucial role our elected board of trustees play in our community and school. The Leonard Independent School District is joining districts across the state to thank board members for voluntarily tackling the enormous job of governing local school districts.

 

Tigers win one, lose three against Cooper

Feb. 3, 2011 - The varsity and junior varsity Leonard basketball teams traveled to Cooper on Jan. 25 to face the Bulldogs in district play. The junior varsity boys, however, were the only Tiger team able to pull out a victory over the hosting school, but a big victory it was.
