Horseman's Association of Texas announces new affiliations

Horseman's Association of Texas (HAT) president Stephanie Staton announced Jan. 11 that HAT will be working with several Fannin County organizations in 2011.

 

Softball tryouts slated for Sunday, Jan 23

Jan. 20, 2011 - The Texas Attitude Fastpitch Club will hold try-outs on Sunday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. at the City Park Complex on County Road 1550 in Bonham. The complex is located south of Silo Road and east of the Fannin County Sheriff's Office. There is no charge for trying out. Try-outs will be held for ages 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 18U. The Texas Attitude 18U is home of the 2010 PONY National Champions and will be looking to fill several roster spots for 2011.

Those players who are playing high school softball will not have any workouts with the Club until after their high school season ends. In case of inclement weather, the try-outs will be moved to Strokes Baseball Academy in Sherman. Hannah's preparing for March benefit

Hannah's Horeshoes of Hope will have a Benefit Team Roping and Silent Auction on Saturday, March 26, at Rockin' M Stables in Blue Ridge. The event is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. with roping, and a live auction will follow the first round. Rules of the ropings are as follows:

 

CASA volunteer training starts

Time is running out to sign up for the next CASA Volunteer Training class. CASA is a program of the Fannin County Children's Center. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. When a judge determines that a child is no longer safe in their own home, CASA is assigned to gather information and make recommendations to the courts about what would be best for the child.

 

McCraw Oil and Kwik Chek Tournament Benefits CASA

Children were the real winners of the 15th Annual McCraw Oil/Kwik Chek Golf Tournament that was held at Webb Hill Country Club. Over 100 vendors participated as golfers in this event played to benefit CASA programs who provide trained volunteer advocates for children in foster care. Organizers report that this was the most successful tournament ever, raising a grand total of about $40,000.
