MAY 5, 2011 - Melba Compton served as hostess to eleven members and one guest in the April 27 meeting of the Celeste Coffee Club. The members attending were Ruby Miller, Frances Reynolds, Lynda Lou Thorp, Mary Ann Hooks, Rachel Clark, Judy Hubbard, Bethalyne Lyon, Jo Willa Pierson, Sarah Andry, Lou Evans and Patty Evans. Karen Lyons attended as a guest.

FFA Booster Club holds fundraiser

April 28, 2011 - On Saturday, May 14 at 5:30 p.m. the FFA Booster Club will be holding an auction and barbecue dinner benefiting Celeste FFA. The dinner will be served in the Celeste High School dining hall. The cost of the dinner is by donation. The auction will begin at 6:30 p.m.

 

Gipsons Celebrate 50th Anniversary

April 28, 2011 - Jim and Lydia Gipson of Tyler celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house hosted by their children, Terry Gipson and wife Michelle of Rhinebeck, N.Y. and Kerry Long and husband Rob of Magnolia.  Those in attendance were family and close friends of the couple, including Mary and Billy G. Golden, who spent the weekend in Tyler visiting with Mrs. Golden’s children and grandchildren. Also attending was Mrs. Gipson’s son, Mark Compton and wife Beverly, who stayed overnight for a family visit.

Bike-A-Thon

Beverly Stankiewicz, chairman, of the Wheels For Life Bike-a-thon reported contributions of $675 for the St. Judes Research Hospital.

Prizes, drinks and cups were donated by Eckerd Drugs, First National Bank of Celeste, Woody’s 844, Burger King, Long John Silver’s and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 4011, which made this event more enjoyable for the riders.

A special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Redfearn, Mr. and Mrs. Dougherty and Mrs. Reba Barnard who were helpers in this event.
