Golf teams play at Webb Hill

March 24, 2011 - The Celeste High School varsity golf team competed in the Webb Hill Golf Tournament on Monday, March 21. The boys' golf team placed sixth overall. From the girls' team, Sam Carter finished fourth in the top ten individual girls' standings. The golf team will compete again on March 28 in Bonham at the Legacy Ridge Golf Tournament.

 

Three FFA projects win blue ribbons

March 24, 2011 - The Celeste FFA Agricultural Mechanics team entered three shop projects in the Houston Livestock Show Agricultural Mechanics Contest which was held March 18-20. The students built and exhibited a 16' Utility Trailer, 10' Utility Trailer and a 3 Point Hay Spike. During the judging process, the projects are evaluated for overall workmanship, and the FFA members are asked a series of questions by the judges pertaining to their projects. All three projects scored well and received blue ribbons. Celeste FFA senior, Dalton Childress, participated in the Agricultural Mechanics Job Fair Contest which gives students real-life experience with job interviewing for agricultural mechanics related careers. Dalton placed 4th overall and received a basket of tools and agricultural mechanic supplies. Dalton will be attending Tulsa Welding School this fall.

30 YEARS AGO - MARCH 27, 1981

Tammy Whitworth Wins Blue Ribbon

Tammy Whitworth won a blue ribbon and third place rosette ribbon in the Senior Bread Food Group at the District 4 4-H Food Show held Saturday, March 14 in Denton in the Golden Triangle Mall. Tammy was judged on her entry of Earth Bread, knowledge ofnutrition, and the total exhibit.

Tammy, member of the Kingston 4-H Club, has been a 4-H member for five years. Mrs. Bell Lamm serves as her organizational leader, and Mrs. Patsy Whitworth is her subject matter leader.

 

Mulkey hosts ten for Bingo Club

March 24, 2011 - The Celeste Bingo Club met on March 15 with Evelyn Mulkey serving as hostess to ten other members. The members attending were Sarah Andry, Patsy Withworth, Mary Ann Hooks, Loretta Shuler, Ruby Miller, Gwen Schroth, Lynda Lou Thorp, Christine Carrington, Judy Hubbard, and Virginia Johnson. The two guests were Sharon and Matthew Wells. Yellow plates and napkins on a pink tablecloth were used for the evening. The ladies enjoyed the refreshments of drinks, Easter M & M's, white cheddar popcorn, Chex mix, peanuts, caramel crunch-n-munch, caramel popcorn, and carrot cake with coconut cream cheese icing.

 

Awards Assembly held to honor UIL winners

March 24, 2011 - Celeste Junior High School held an awards assembly for UIL contestants on Friday, March 11, to recognize those students placing. Celeste Junior High School placed 2nd overall in district UIL competition. Check the CISD website for individual and team results.
