Valley Creek hosting Children' s Easter Service

April 21, 2011 - Valley Creek Baptist Church will host a special Children's Easter Service on Sunday, April 24 beginning at 9:30 a.m.

In the sanctuary, a puppet show will be presented followed by an Easter Egg hunt on the church grounds. Children and families will then return to the sanctuary for the Easter story. The church invites the community to join them for this special occasion. Valley Creek Baptist church is located on FM 896, two miles north of Hwy. 69.

April 21, 2011 - On March 14, First United Methodist Church Pastor Martha Myre entered the church's sanctuary for her early morning devotional and noticed something amiss. Part of the east ceiling had fallen in sometime in the night.

"This is not a good thing to happen any time but it is especially stressful with a little over a month before the church's extensive Easter Week activities," commented Pastor Myre.

 

FUMC plans special services for Holy Week

April 14, 2011 - During the next week, the First United Methodist Church in Leonard will have several special events in recognition of Holy Week. The church invites the community to be a part of these events as the congregation celebrates the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

On April 17, the church will celebrate Palm Sunday from 8:30 - 10:55 a.m. Children's Palm Parade will be held at the 10:55 a.m. service.

 

New Mt. Zion schedules three-day revival

April 14, 2011 - A revival is scheduled at New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church April 20-22 at 7 p.m. nightly. The church is located at 401 S. Cedar in Leonard. Rev. Joanna Hailey is serving as the interim pastor.

Come and be revived!! The theme of the event is Revived by the Love of Jesus, which comes from the Bible verseRomans 14:9. The guest speaker will be Rev. Connice Mayes, pastor and evangelist.

 

Several local churches participate in Praise in the Park last Saturday

April 7, 2011 - On Saturday, April 2, a number of local churches gathered together for Praise in the Park with Pike Baptist Church coordinating the activities. The event was held at the Leonard City Park from noon to late afternoon. It was a beautiful day for churches in the area to gather together with one goal, to praise and worship the Savior.
