Letter to the Editor: Egg Hunt a success, thanks to many

E-mail Print PDF

April 28, 2011

Dear editor,

We would like to thank the Leonard Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring the annual Easter egg hunt again this year. It is a wonderful event that is free of charge and allows the children in the community to enjoy being together while hunting eggs filled with toys and candy and having their picture made with the Easter bunny. The Chamber purchased the 5,000 Easter eggs and allowed us to use their PA System to announce the event. We also want to thank the City for allowing us to use the City Park and the city crew for preparing the grounds for the event.

  • A Leonard officer assisted Hunt County Sheriff's Office by transporting a resident to a location in their county and then back to Leonard, while they were investigating a case on April 11.
  • A Quinlan woman contacted Leonard police after her 16-year-old grandson whom she had custody of had left and was staying with a woman outside of Leonard. The complainant filed a report with CPS who advised her to make a report with the police department. The officer advised that the location where the boy was staying was outside of their jurisdiction, and they would need to file the report with Fannin County Sheriff's Office.

Letter to the Editor: Organizers of the Chamber Banquet say 'thank you'

E-mail Print PDF

April 14, 2011

Dear Editor,

We would like to say a huge "THANK YOU" to all of the businesses that participated in the Chamber of Commerce Banquet and Awards Night on April 4. We had a great show of support from those businesses who donated door prizes and bought tables, and also from individuals who bought tickets or supported the ring raffle. It was a great success. We would like to say a special thank you to Leonard ISD, the LHS Jazz Band and Luna Azul for the hospitality, entertainment and great food. This would not have been possible without each of those that participated.

Sincerely,

The Leonard Chamber Banquet Committee

Dear Betsy,

With baseball season coming up I thought you might find a place in your paper for this poem. I think it is great and I have had it a long time. I do not know who the author is.
