Entire Faculty Re-Elected In Leonard Schools

By vote of the members of the Leonard Independent School District Board in a regular meeting recently the entire faculty was re-elected for the 1961-62 year.

Due to requests from patrons, the board's policy was waivered to constitute the re-election of Miss Gaynel Glass, first grade teacher, who is eligible for retirement.

Leonard Tigers Play Dodd City Here Friday At 2:30 P.M.

Leonard plays its first district baseball game Friday at Tiger Field, 2:30 against Dodd City. Up to date Leonard has won two while losing three.

They lost their first two, 11-12 to Blue Ridge, and 5-6 to Howe; then came back to beat Commerce 9-6 and Howe 8-6.

Tuesday, after the Easter holidays the Tigers were blasted by Commerce 24-9 in their first home game. Friday marks the beginning of14-B games for the Tigers when they Dodd City, the team picked to win the district.

Burglars Hit Tilger Gas Station

Burglars entered Ralph Tilger's serve-your-self type service station on Highway 69 between Leonard and Trenton Thursday night, March 23.

The intruders broke four locks on various outside tanks and took several gallons of gasoline, a number of quarts of oil and some cigarettes.

No convictions of the burglary have been reported.

Bishop is Sup't. Of Bailey School

W. A. Bishop, coach at Windom, has been elected superintendent of Bailey schools to succeed Dan Elette, who resigned. Bishop assumed his duties this week.

The new superintendent has been coach at Windom for the past two years.

He formerly coached at Gober.

Three Trustees To Be Elected Saturday

Three men will be elected trustees to serve on the Leonard Independent School District Board in an election to be held Saturday, April 1.

Names appearing on the ballot will be H. A. Havens, L. M. Todd and Joe Richards, all seeking re-election.

Holdover trustees are Homer C. Evans, E. L. Thorp and W. R. Sprinkle.

The election will be held in the City Building. H. A. Spies will be judge and Mrs. Houston Hurst and Mrs. Jack Scherer will be clerks.

Miss Ava Cook

Mrs. Floyd Green of Leonard has announced the engagement of her daughter, Miss Ava Elizabeth Cook to Billy Turman, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Turman of Bonham. Miss Cook is a senior student in Bailey High School. Wedding plans will be announced later.

New arrival

An 8 pound son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Haskell Freeman Friday, March 17, 1961 at Van Schoick Clinic in Leonard.

Thompson Twins Note Birthday

Tommy and Teddy Thompson, twin sons of Mrs. Thelma Jo Thompson, celebrated their 8th birthday with a party at their home on Friday afternoon, March 17 from 3:30 to 4:30.

Several guests and the honorees played games and enjoyed favors of chewing gum and balloons.

Refreshments of cake and ice cream were served to Ricky Smith, Becky Peirson, Jeff Smith, Debra Cushman, John McKee Myers, Vicky and Becky Stapp, Betsy Davis, Dennis Steele, Carolyn Partridge, Ricky and Ronnie Watson, Mike West, Luke Dixon, Larry Thompson, Anthaline Carol Thompson, Mrs. Evelyn Dixon, Mrs. Gilbert Smith and Kim.

It's a Boy

Mr. and Mrs. Danny Max Trapp of Grand Prairie announce the arrival of the son at 4:00 A.M. Saturday, March 18, 1961 at Arlington Hospital. He weighed 8pounds.

Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jim Trapp of Leonard and Mr. and Mrs. Ewell Phillips of Dallas.

Robin Todd Honored On 3rd Birthday

Mrs. Jerry M. Todd honored her daughter, little Miss Robin Denise Todd with a party on her third birthday Saturday, March 11, from two until four p.m.

Balloons, gum, birthday hats and blowers were favors received by the twelve little guests.

Refreshments of cake, ice cream and punch were served to Becky Fuller, Annette Partridge, Jeff Berry, Billy Riddle, Jr., David Riddle, Jimmy Davis, Jannette McCarroll, Susan Grimes, Vicky Evans, Cathy Treadway, Lee and Lynn Pemberton.
