June 16, 2011 - Yuliya Dorik-Strong was sworn in as a U.S. citizen on June 6, 2011. The ceremony took place at the United States Citizen and Immigration Services building in Irving. The 1:30 p.m. ceremony was attended by family and friends of 32 different countries.

June 9, 2011 - Explosions of color filled the darkening sky north of Leonard on Saturday, June 4, as local firework display company Pyrotex held a practice show to educate employees, and entertain local residents. As dusk settled, a throng of Pyrotex engineers donned hard hats in preparation for the event, which helps train the crew for future shows.
