Boy Scouts compete in Pinewood Derby

Feb. 17, 2011 - Pictured are Boy Scout Troop 156 members (front row, from left) Patrick Westbrook, Trey Shocklee, Ty Ashworth, Joseph Palmer, Bryce Lowrey, (back row) Sean Burgess, Tyson Burgess, Bryson Lokey, Kyle Proctor, Brayden Knight and Brandon Woods, who recently competed in the annual Pinewood Derby. Placing overall was first - Sean Burgess, second - Tyson Burgess and third - Bryson Lokey. Placing in each heat by pack were as follows: Tiger Den: first - Bryson Lokey and second - Kyle Proctor; Wolf Den: first - Tyson Burgess, second - Ty Ashworth, and third - Trey Shocklee; Bear Den: first - Patrick Westbrook; Webelos Den: first - Sean Burgess, second - Brandon Woods, and third - Brayden Knight. Special awards were given to Bryce Lowrey for Best Paint, Bryson Lokey for Most Creative and Joseph Palmer for Best Design. Manor residents celebrate Valentine's Day

Feb. 17, 2011 - Leonard Manor residents enjoyed a party on Monday, Feb. 14, in celebration of Valentine's Day. Bill Cooper and Juanita Moats, pictured in the top photo, were crowned King and Queen. Linda and George Harwell provided karaoke for the residents and their family and other entertainers included David Magers, Lil Tuscana and Jamie from American Hospice.

Buchanan makes Dean's List at UNT

Feb. 17, 2011 - The University of North Texas recently released their Dean's List for the 2010 fall semester and Leonard High School graduate Lauren Marie Buchanan was included on the list. To be named to the Dean's List, undergraduates must complete at least 12 academic hours with a grade point average of 3.5 to. 3.9.

Buchanan is the daughter of Mark and Joyce Buchanan and is a 2007 graduate of Leonard High School.

Fourteen make honor roll at TAMU-C

Feb. 17, 2011 - The Texas A & M University - Commerce Fall 2010 Dean's List and President's Honor Roll have been released, and the honorees include several Leonard residents. Dean's List honorees must have been enrolled in at least 12 semester hours and hold a minimum 3.25 grade point average for the semester. The President's Honor Roll requires 12 semester hours and a 4.00 semester GPA.

Long makes Dean’s List at ASU

Angelo State University in San Angelo recently released their Dean’s List for the fall 2010 semester and included on that list was Leonard graduate Christina S. Long. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full-time and maintain a 3.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Long is the daughter of Ed and Sherene Long of Leonard and is a 2007 graduate of Leonard High School.
