June 16, 2011 - Local HAMS will join with thousands of Amateur Radio operators who will be showing off their emergency capabilities June 25. Over the past year, the news has been full of reports of ham radio operators providing critical communications during unexpected emergencies in towns across America including the California wildfires, winter storms, tornadoes and other events worldwide.

June 2, 2011 - Skydivers from all over Texas swarmed to Skydive Dallas, located south of Whitewright, on Thursday afternoon, May 26, to watch a B-25 bomber from the Confederate Air Force fly over.

June 2, 2011 - On May 28, the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate met jointly to hold a memorial ceremony to honor Texan soldiers who lost their lives in the global war against terrorism. The ceremony began with the presentation of the colors by the Texas National Guard, the singing of the national anthem, and the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. Members of the legislature spoke briefly about the sacrifices made by the service members and their families before the Governor presented state flags to the families of the fallen Texans.
