Fannin County officials attend preparedness workshop

April 14, 2011 - Darrell Brewer, Fannin County Emergency Management Coordinator arranged for the Texas Division of Emergency Management to present a workshop for public officials and civil servants.

Sherri Copeland, Regional Liaison Officer for region Sub 1C-A used a PowerPoint presentation and lecture on the governmental chain of command for local responsibilities during the four phases of emergency management - mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery, and the emergency management program activities, such as planning, training, and exercising.

April 14, 2011 - The Creative Arts Center in Bonham is co-hosting, along with the Fannin County Children's Center, their annual art contests together as a single event this year. The purpose is to celebrate the children!

There will be an Easter Sunrise service on Sunday, April 24 at 6:30 a.m. in the garden at the Creative Arts Center and light refreshments will be served. On Saturday, April 30, there will be an Iris show exhibit from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

 

Kidz Krew wows crowds with Sherlock performance

April 14, 2011 - Early in April, the Creative Arts Center Kidz Krew Performing Arts Program performed on the Windom stage, presenting "Sherlock Holmes and the Grimm Imbriglio". The crowds were impressed with the story, costumes and the 21 talented young actors.

 

Trenton Beta Clubs plan Family Fun Day

April 14, 2011 - The Junior and Senior Beta clubs at Trenton ISD are sponsoring a full day of events for a Family Fun Day on saturday, April 16, beginning at 10 a.m. Everyone is invited and welcome to attend and be a part of this event, with all proceeds benefiting the beta clubs. The money will be used to offset expenses associated with attending the state convention and for academic scholarships.

 

Songwriters invited to participate in contest

April 14, 2011 - Organizers of the Ruby Allmond Songwriting Contest are gearing up for the 2011 contest and are inviting songwriters to write a song or two and participate. The contest is free and cash prizes are awarded to the winners. Entry forms and rules are available for download at www.rubyallmond.com. The original song on cassette or CD with entry and typed lyrics should be sent to Ruby Allmond Songwriting Contest, PO Box 507, Bonham, TX 75418 before July 1. The ten finalists will sing their songs in Bonham on Aug. 6 and judges will select the winners. Visit the website above for more information.
