FCCC hosts biggest Stand Up for Kids event

April 21, 2011 - The third annual "Stand Up For Kids" event was the biggest one ever. Organizers estimate that 500-600 people attended the event at Family Video on North Center Street in Bonham. The come and go event lasted from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13.

The same day was "Go Blue Day" in Texas. This day is promoted by the Texas Council of Child Welfare Board and the Fannin County Child Welfare Board as part of Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month in April.

"Child abuse is a community problem," said Sandy Barber with the Children's Center. "This year's "Stand Up For Kids" event was bigger and better because we involved more of the community."

 

Fire restrictions issued for Caddo Grasslands

April 14, 2011 - Forest Supervisor Linda Brett has announced an immediate ban on fires in the Caddo National Grasslands except those in appropriate receptacles in general grassland areas.

"Considering the extreme fire hazard due to dry conditions, we're asking everyone to use the highest level of caution when visiting the Caddo National Grasslands," Brett said.

 

4H hosting spaghetti supper

April 14, 2011 - The Webb Hill 4H members involved in the Food and Nutrition Project have scheduled a fundraiser for April 23. The event is a Spring Spaghetti Supper and will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Wolfe City C.A.R.E.S. Center. Donations are welcome. Hannah's Golf Scramble this Friday at Webb Hill

April 14, 2011 - The Hannah's Horseshoes of Hope Annual Golf Scramble is scheduled for Friday, April 15, at Webb Hill Country Club in Wolfe City, and will benefit the eight-year-old non-profit organization. All proceeds from the four-person scramble will go towards making Hannah's unique therapeutic riding program available to even more children through additional scholarships and outreach programs.

 

District Clerk hosting Passport Fair

April 14, 2011 - The Fannin County District Clerk is hosting a Passport Fair in Bonham on Saturday, April 30, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. to provide passport information to U.S. citizens and to accept passport applications. The fair will be held on the second floor of the Fannin County Courthouse located at 101 E. Sam Rayburn Dr. in Bonham (downtown Bonham square).
