"Get Hooked... Read a Book" bookmark contest

Feb. 3, 2011 - The "Get Hooked... Read a Book" Bookmark Contest will begin in February, with deadline for entries on Thursday, April 7. Entries will be available at the Bonham Public Library or through the schools in Fannin County. The contest is open to seventh and eighth grade students who attend a Fannin County school or are home-schooled in the county.

TrailBlazers gives to kids through Children's Center donation

Jan. 27, 2011 - TrailBlazers Health Enterprises' Texoma Operations Center staff recently donated $750 to the Fannin County Children's Center.

"We are thrilled to receive such a generous gift," said Sandy Barber, Executive Director of the Children's Center. "This gift will help sustain our CASA and Children's Advocacy Center services for kids who have been abused or neglected."

TrailBlazer President Gil Glover stated, "It is an honor to support an organization that is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the lives of abused and neglected children in Fannin County.

Last try-outs for Attitude

Jan. 27, 2011 - The Texas Attitude Fastpitch Club will host their final Winter try-outs for the 2011 season on Saturday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Culpepper Softball Complex at 1601 Loy Lake Road in Denison. Try-outs will be held for all ages 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U. These try-outs will fill rosters for the full calendar year of 2011. The 14, 16 & 18 divisions will not begin practices and competition until after the Texas UIL seasons.

 

Fannin County severe storm program Tuesday

Jan. 27, 2011 - The 2010 severe storm season in North Texas was anything but typical, but was quite busy. There were tornadoes as early as Jan. 20, and tornadoes as late as Oct. 24. Hail storms, damaging thunderstorm winds, and flooding all had their turn across North Texas skies. The toll on life and property was significant, with many casualties and damage in the tens of millions of dollars.

Fannin County Farm Bureau sees member growth in 2010

Although 2010 was a difficult year for many Texas organizations, Fannin County Farm Bureau once again enjoyed membership growth, increasing by 226 member families this year.

Jerry Magness, Fannin County Farm Bureau president explained why the organization continues to grow year after year.
