Garden meeting rescheduled

Feb. 10, 2011 - Due to the uncertain weather conditions, the CORE Board has decided to reschedule the first Bonham Community Garden Organizational Gathering to Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m., in the Elizabeth May Room at American Bank of Texas. All interested citizens of Bonham and surrounding areas are encouraged to attend and provide input and feedback. Organizers need to know who plans to actually garden a plot in the Community Garden or serve as a consultant, sponsor, or cheerleader.

 

Master Naturalist chapter having sign-ups for certification course

Feb. 3, 2011 - Master Naturalist, Bois D' Arc chapter of Fannin County, would like to announce that there will be one more regular meeting before classes begin on March 17. If you would like to become a Certified Master Naturalist, registration for 2011 classes is now underway, and forms must be completed and turned in before the Feb. 17 meeting. There will be a total of thirteen classes and three field trips during the next year and a half. The fee for classes, class material, and to join the group is $70 dollars.

Extension Agent hosting Pesticide training and testing in Leonard

Feb. 3, 2011 - Fannin County residents interested in acquiring a Private Pesticide Applicators License will have the opportunity to take part in a training and test on April 19 at the Leonard Community Center at 118 West Collin Street (west side of the downtown square). Training will begin at 8 a.m. The training by Texas AgriLife Extension Agent, Roger Skipper should take roughly 3 to 4 hours. The test will be administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) representative. There is no cost for the training.

CAC holding auditions for Music in the Garden

Feb. 3, 2011 - The Creative Arts Center Music Committee is gearing up for the third annual Music in the Garden spring concert series. Auditions will be Thursdays, Feb. 10 and 24, at 5:30 p.m. Musicians interested in auditioning should contact the Creative Arts Center at 903-640-2196 for an appointment as soon as possible. The concert series has featured jazz, country, gospel, rock and contemporary Christian music in years past. In addition, Fannin and Grayson County youth musicians were featured throughout the series last year and will be spotlighted again this year.

Master Gardeners meet Monday: Taube to be guest speaker for program

Feb. 3, 2011 - The Fannin County Master Gardeners will meet on Monday, Feb. 7, at noon in the Williams Building at the First Presbyterian Church located at the corner of Center and 9th Street.
