Fifth grade girls claim championship

March 31, 2011 - The Leonard Fifth Grade Lady Tigers recently won the championship of the North Texas Junior Basketball League by defeating Van Alstyne in the finals to claim the first place prize. High school track teams finish fourth or better

March 31, 2011 - The junior varsity and varsity boy's and varsity girls track teams competed in the Wolfe City relays on Saturday, March 26, and all three teams placed in the top four out of sixteen teams.

 

Golf teams finish third and ninth

March 31, 2011 - The LHS golf teams played one last pre-district tournament Monday at a cold, breezy Legacy Ridge Country Club in Bonham.

The Lady Tigers produced a third-place finish with a team score of 461. Shelby Zumwalt led the way with a score of 108, good enough for 10th place overall, and Jordan Riley was close behind at 110. Marissa Kuntz carded a 119, and Alex Brooks managed a 124. Rosa Gomez rounded out the scoring at 132.

 

One Act Play team presents "Quiet Please!"

March 31, 2011 - The One Act Play department at Leonard High School spent hours rehearsing leading up to last week's UIL One Act Play competition, where they performed "Quiet Please" by Howard Buermann. Cast included Jonathan Burgess as Judd, Nicholas Hetherington as Jeff, Sadie Mullican as Catherine, Mary Bryan as Mattie, Morgan Butler as the Reverend Andrews, Sadie Woodruff as Jessica and Karrina Vaughn as Josie.

 

Next storytelling time April 19

March 31, 2011 - Leonard Public Library and Leonard Junior High will host their third Storytelling Time on Tuesday, April 19, at Leonard Public Library, from 6 to 8 p.m. This is a come-and-go time and will feature guest readers from Leonard Junior High reading stories to the children attending. Leonard Public Library is located on the east side of the downtown Leonard square.
