Funeral Services for Mattie Dean Vaughn Nichols, 76-year-old Celeste resident, are scheduled for  Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Celeste with James Ralson officiating. Burial will be in the Celeste/Hogeye Cemetery. Family visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 24, from 6 to  8 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel in Leonard. Nicholas passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville.

Mrs. Nichols was born April 27, 1935 at Gilmer, the daughter of Arthur "Shorty" and Maudie Elizabeth Moore Vaughn. She married Doyle M. Nichols on Jan. 28, 1950, in Dallas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Celeste and owned and operated Dean's Drive-In in Celeste for many years.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Katrina and Michael Mitchell and Cheryl and Mark Dockery, all of Celeste; her brother, Edward Vaughn of Canton; her sister and brother-in-law:Ellen and James Bowen of Caddo Mills; her grandchildren, John Wesley Acker, Cody Lane Mitchell and Tiffannie Janice Mitchell, all of Celeste; great grandchild, Kira Marie Acker of Celeste; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Paul Hansley of Celeste. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Barney Vaughn; a sister, Donna Hansley; and a granddaughter, Amanda "Mandie" Mitchell.
