Gipsons Celebrate 50th Anniversary

April 28, 2011 - Jim and Lydia Gipson of Tyler celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house hosted by their children, Terry Gipson and wife Michelle of Rhinebeck, N.Y. and Kerry Long and husband Rob of Magnolia.  Those in attendance were family and close friends of the couple, including Mary and Billy G. Golden, who spent the weekend in Tyler visiting with Mrs. Golden’s children and grandchildren. Also attending was Mrs. Gipson’s son, Mark Compton and wife Beverly, who stayed overnight for a family visit.

Jim Gipson married Lydia Compton on April 14, 1961.  The couple has lived in Tyler since 1965. Jim is the son of the late J.M. and Faye Gipson of Terrell  Lydia is the daughter of Mary Whitworth Compton Golden of Bailey, and the late R.E. (Bud) Compton.  Jim is Technical Support Manager for Harris Computer Systems, Tyler. Lydia is retired from State of Texas DADS Regulatory Services Division.  

The couple will continue their celebration with a trip to their beloved Bar Harbor, Maine area.c
