Conti, Womack head to track regionals

April 21, 2011 - The Leonard girls' track team competed in the District 12-2A meet on Monday and Tuesday, April 11-12. Leonard scored 55 points to place fifth overall. Every relay and individual improved on their personal best for the year.

The top three individuals or relays in each event qualify for the Regional meet in Stephenville on May 2-3, and two Leonard runners - Taylor Conti and Katelyn Womack - earned their way to that meet.

Conti improved by 50 seconds in the mile this year to become District Champion with a time of 5:46. She also placed fourth in the 3200 meters with a time of 13:00. Womack placed third in the triple jump, second in long jump, and second in high jump to earn her a trip to Regionals in three events. She also placed fourth in the 100-meter dash.

Other Leonard girls placingincluded 4x100M Relay - fifth - Cottle, Gentry, DeVincentis, Farber; 100M Hurdles - fifth - Bailey Anderson; 300M Hurdles - sixth - Bailey Anderson; 200M - eighth - DeVincentis; 400M - fifth - Guajardo; 4x200M Relay - sixth - Gentry, DeVincentis, Farber, Grier; and 4x400M Relay - fifth - Conti, Grier, Guajardo, Cottle.

The Lady Tigers showed great improvements this year and gained lots of experience for the upcoming seasons.
