Collin and Fannin County AgriLife hosting "Small Grains Field Day" in Leonard and Farmersville

April 14, 2011 - A "Small Grains Field Day" educational event for area producers will be held at research plots near Farmersville and the Leonard High School Ag Science Building on Thursday, May 12.The Texas AgriLife Extension Service from Collin and Fannin Counties will host this free event from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch provided.Several Extension Specialists and Texas AgriLife Research Scientists will present the latest information on small grains research using the Texas A&M -Commerce and Texas AgriLife Extension Research Plots in Farmersville and Leonard as an outdoor classroom.

Informational speakers will include: Kody Bessent (Texas Wheat Board) - update information on activities of the Wheat Board; Dr Blake Bennett (Texas AgriLife Extension Economist) - Wheat Market Outlook; and Dr. Robert Duncan - update on Herbicides and Weed control.

Three CEU's will be offered also for all those attending that have a Pesticide Applicators License.There is no cost to attend; however, registration by Monday, May 9, is required to secure a meal and presentation handouts.Contact the Collin County Extension office at (972) 548-4233 or the Fannin County Extension office at (903) 583-7453 to pre-register.

Mulberry and in front of the Ag Science Bldg.
