April 14, 2011 - The varsity Tigers faced the Melissa Cardinals in a district game on Friday, April 1, in Leonard. The Tigers managed three home runs, but were unable to match the Cardinals' 20 runs and suffered a loss on their home field (20-5).

At batting, Blake Hicks had one walk; T.J. Stahley had one hit, one run, and one walk; Bradley Dills had three at-bats and had one run, one hit, one RBI and one home run; Aaron Shanks had one hit; Ty McKinney was three for three at the plate with one run, two hits, one RBI and one home run; Caleb Simmons had two runs, one hit, one walk, two RBI and one home run; Chance Whitworth had one hit.

At fielding, Hicks had one out, one assist and one error; Stahley had one out; Dills had one out and two assists; Shanks had two outs and one error; Bubba Martin had three outs and one error; McKinney had two outs and three assists; Simmons had one assist; Whitworth had two outs; and Cody Winkler had one out and one error.

The Tigers ran through their pitching line up to try and stop the opposing team, using four from the mound. Pitching statistics were as follows: Blake Hicks - faced five batters, gave up three hits - one a double, allowed six runs (three of which were earned runs) and walked two; Aaron Shanks - faced ten batters, gave up four hits - one a double and one a home run, allowed six runs (three of which were earned runs), walked one and hit one by pitch; Ty McKinney - faced twelve batters, gave up five hits - one a home run, allowed four runs (three of which were earned runs), walked one and struck out two; and Caleb Simmons - faced eight batters, gave up two hits - one a triple, allowed five runs (two of which were earned runs), and walked three. McKinney, who pitched the most out of the four, received the loss for the TIgers.

The next Tuesday, April 5, the Tigers hosted Prairiland in another game, but were unable to manage the big hits from the preceding game that they needed to clench a win. The final score was 6-2.

At batting, Hicks had one run and one hit; Stahley had one run and one walk; Martin had two hits and one walk; McKinney had one hit; Simmons had two hits; and Whitworth had one walk.

At fielding, Hicks had one out, one assist and one error; Stahley had one out; Dills had one out and two assists; Shanks had one assist and two errors; Martin had nine outs, one assist and put one out stealing; McKinney had eight assists; Simmons had one out and one error; Whitworth had four outs and Winkler had one out, one assist and one error.

At pitching, Ty McKinney faced 27 batters in 5.1 innings and allowed two runs (one of which was earned) off of seven hits, one of which was a double. He also walked one, struck out seven and hit one by pitch. Shanks finished the game, facing four batters and allowing four runs (one earned). He walked one and struck out one. McKinney received the loss again for the Tigers.
