April 14, 2011 - The fourth and fifth graders at Leonard Intermediate School participated in their version of Minute to Win It for their Fabulous Friday celebration. Those students attending the "show" were being awarded for good behavior, meeting their Accelerated Reader points, etc. Substitute Sarah Burt organized the show, dressing the part of host Guy Fieri from the hit television show on NBC. Her assistant was music teacher Lesa Ashworth, complete with prom dress and heels to resemble a real on-screen show assistant. Students were drawn from a hat and had their chance to battle each other in competitions similar to or the same as ones from the real show. (Pictures below)

Thalia Hernandez (pictured top) was the only winner from the fifth grade episode after she successfully hung five clothes hangers one below another, while also ensuring they were balanced so they didn't slide to the corners of the above hanger. Also pictured are (middle) Hunter Sadler as he attempts to stack three golf balls on top of each other, and (bottom) Daniella Koch and Abbey Maxwell as they practice the act of picking up a soda can with one strand of spaghetti. - Betsy Blevins staff photos
