Leonard Tigers Play Dodd City Here Friday At 2:30 P.M.

Leonard plays its first district baseball game Friday at Tiger Field, 2:30 against Dodd City. Up to date Leonard has won two while losing three.

They lost their first two, 11-12 to Blue Ridge, and 5-6 to Howe; then came back to beat Commerce 9-6 and Howe 8-6.

Tuesday, after the Easter holidays the Tigers were blasted by Commerce 24-9 in their first home game. Friday marks the beginning of14-B games for the Tigers when they Dodd City, the team picked to win the district.

Tenant House Burns On Tucker Place

A tenant house on the Tucker property, and near the home of Mrs. Fred Tucker in the northwest part oft own, was destroyed by fire of undetermined origin about 8 oclock Monday night, April 3.

Leonard firemen answered the call but were hindered in their efforts because there is not a fire hydrant in the area of the house. Two trucks were used and were returned to town for water when their tanks were emptied. Also a water well on the property was pumped dry in an attempt to save the frame house.

The house was occupied by a colored man, Connor Simmons. All personal belongings and furnishings were burned.

Clyde Tucker said the place was covered by insurance.

Only 25 People Vote For Trustees

H. A. Havens, L. M. Todd and Joe Richards were elected to serve as trustees on the Leonard Independent School District Board, in the election held Saturday, April 1, in the city building. All three were seeking re-election. Havens received 22 votes; Todd 23; Richards 23.

Only 25 people voted.

Receiving write-in votes were L. C. Hill, 3; Dr. James W. Davis, 2; Mrs. Wayne Richardson, 1.

Miss Little Married To Millard Barnes

Mr. and Mrs. Eddie G. Little of Wichita Falls announce the recent marriage of their daughter, Eddie Frances, to Millard Barnes of Wichita Falls.

The couple married Thursday, March 29, 1961 in the evening at Henrietta, Texas.

The bride will continue her studies at North Texas State College, Denton and Mr. Barnes will serve with the navy.

Mrs. Barnes is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Little and Earn Sudderth of Leonard.
