George Blakey joins delegates at State Conference

April 7, 2011 - The Texas Society NSDAR joined for its 112th Annual State Conference in March. Eight members of the George Blakey Chapter enjoyed the festivities for the four day conference. Annual awards at the conference included Americanism Award received by Mesfin Samuel; Community Service Award received by Traci Lynne Kenner; Conservation Medal received by David Schuler and American History Award received by Rosemary Rumbley.

The Texas Society made a donation to the DAR Headquarters in Washington, D.C. for the restoration of the Banquet Hall and Kitchen in honor of Lynn Forney Young, who serves as NSDAR Recording Secretary General.

The conference also honored outstanding Children of the American Revolution members and their various projects, along with the Junior membership that was in attendance.

The George Blakey Daughters of the American Revolution will meet Saturday, April 9, at Seven Oaks Nursing Home in Bonham at 2 p.m. Membership is open to all women over the age of 18.
