March 31, 2011 - The One Act Play department at Leonard High School spent hours rehearsing leading up to last week's UIL One Act Play competition, where they performed "Quiet Please" by Howard Buermann. Cast included Jonathan Burgess as Judd, Nicholas Hetherington as Jeff, Sadie Mullican as Catherine, Mary Bryan as Mattie, Morgan Butler as the Reverend Andrews, Sadie Woodruff as Jessica and Karrina Vaughn as Josie.

The plot for the play says, "Separated by a chalk line down the middle of their cabin, Jeff and Judd, brothers, carry on a long feud of silence despite attempts to reconcile them. Their feud strikes a snag when they find themselves with an uninvited overnight guest on their hands in the form of Catherine, a young woman whose car has broken down near their farm. The situation becomes hilarious as the brothers attempt to maintain hospitality and personal hostilities. The feud collapses and Catherine departs. Pleased with their reconciliation, the brothers prepare to celebrate but fall into a wrangle trying to recall what the original quarrel was about!"

While the team did not advance in UIL competition, three of them - Jonathan Burgess, Nicholas Hetherington and Mary Bryan - received All-Star Cast Honorable Mention awards and Mary Bryan received an All-Star Cast nod. Stage Director Christy Stringer was also presented a technical award.
