March 31, 2011 - Leonard Park Pride Day is still scheduled for this Saturday, April 2, but some changes have been made due to a conflict at city park. Start time is still set for 9:30 a.m., but organizers are requesting those planning to take part to meet at Kiwanis Park on Connett Street instead of City Park.
Volunteers are needed to help clean and freshen both park areas - Kiwanis and City Park - up. Workers will be assigned to both areas, but the meeting location will be at Kiwanis Park. Various tasks that may need to be done could include painting, picking up trash and/or rocks, and whatever else the organizers ask. The clean-up will last until 2 p.m. with lunch provided at Kiwanis Park for those helping out. Organizers were also working to gather items to give away in drawings for those taking part. Area residents are invited and encouraged to be a part of this day and help make the parks something that the entire community can be proud of.
