March 17, 2011 - The Fannin County Children's Center is taking orders again for their Blue Shirts. The royal blue shirts proclaim "No Excuse for Child Abuse" in bold letters on the front. The back of the shirt includes the words "I stand up for kids."

Organizers are also working on plans for this year's Stand Up for Kids event. Many new activities are being planned to make it a fun event for the whole family to come and go from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, at Family Video in Bonham.

April 13 is Go Blue Day in Texas. The Fannin County Child Welfare Board and the Texas Council of Child Welfare Boards encourage everyone to wear blue on this day in honor of Child Abuse Awareness.

"We are excited about all of the new partners we have pulled in to make this year's Stand Up for Kids event even bigger and better," said Sandy Barber with the Children's Center. "We hope lots of folks of all ages will get one of our blue shirts or wear something else that is blue and join us at Stand Up For Kids."

Blue shirts must be ordered and paid for by March 31 in order to be ready for the April 13th event. Shirt orders will be taken through the end of April.

Blue Shirts in child sizes and most adult sizes are $10. Sizes 2XL cost $11 and 3XL are $12. Order forms are available on the agency website at www.fanninccc.org.

Proceeds from the sale of the shirts will be used to support efforts to raise awareness about child abuse in Fannin County. For more information, visit www.fanninccc.org or call (903) 583-4339.
