Master Gardeners hosting seventh annual expo

March 17, 2011 - The Fannin County Master Gardeners' seventh annual 2011 Garden, Lawn & Home Expo is set for Saturday, March 26, from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Bonham Civic Center, located at 1000 W 5th St. in Bonham, on the corner of State Highways 121 and 56.

Presentations include:

9 a.m. - Kim Schofield, Program Specialist - IPM, Texas AgriLife Extension Service, Dallas Research & Extension Center- "Beneficial Insects"

10:30 a.m. - Jessie Gunn Stephens, Author, Columnist, Master Gardener - "Growing and Using the Gourmet Herbs"

12:30 p.m. - Steve Huddleston, Sr. Horticulturist, Fort Worth Botanic Garden, Author - 'Perennials for Sun and Shade"

2 p.m. - James McAfee, Ph.D., Texas AgriLife Extension Turfgrass Specialist - "Managing Turfgrass in Home Lawns"

Four knowledgeable and enthusiastic professionals will speak on garden topics of wide interest. Did you know only 5% of all insects are harmful? Can you identify the good guys? Do you use your own herbs to make delicious meals? Learn what plants grow where best, and who doesn't want to have a beautiful yard. These pros know!

Many exhibit and vendor booths with plants, lawn & garden items, home needs and decor, equipment and more will be promoting and offering their products to the public.Home-grown small businesses offering their unique and hand made one-of-a-kind items will be showcased. Limited booth space is available for only $50.

Fannin County Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer those "How do I ..." and "What is ...." and "When can I ..."questions. Fannin County 4-H will have concessions for lunch and refreshments, with proceeds going toward 4-H scholarships. There will be a silent auction and door prizes will be given throughout the day.

All this for an admission of still only $4! The FCMG are looking forward to seeing you Saturday, March 26. Come stay all day! The proceeds help to fund scholarships and local projects of the Fannin County Master Gardeners.
