Leonard Pre-K and K registration coming up in April

March 10, 2011 - Leonard Elementary will host Pre-K & Kindergarten pre-registration for the 2009-10 school year for three days, Tuesday, April 5, through Thursday, April 7. The pre-registration will take place each of those days from 8-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.

To qualify for the Pre-K program, the child must be four years of age on or before September 1, 2010 and;

Unable to speak and comprehend the English Language, or

Educationally disadvantaged - Educationally disadvantaged students are eligible to participate in the National Free or Reduced-Price Lunch Program; or

Homeless; or

A child of an active duty member of the armed forces or a child of an injured or killed active duty armed forces member; or

A child that has ever been in the conservatorship (foster care) of the Department of Family and Protective services (DFPS following an adversary hearing).

To qualify for Kindergarten, the child must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2010.

When coming to enroll into Pre-K or Kindergarten, the following items MUST BE BROUGHT:

Child's Birth Certificate

Child's Immunization Record - must show 4 yr shots if child is 4 yr's old

Child's Social Security Card

(PRE-K ONLY) Adult's Proof of Income - Must be the last four check stubs for everyone earning income in the household

Adult's Proof of Residency - Must be a "current" water bill or light bill

At this time the school has no information on Pre-Kindergarten tuition for the 2011-12 school year if the family does not qualify by the State of Texas Guidelines outlined in this article. The school suggests that parents go ahead and pre-register their child for Pre-K so the child's name will be on the list in the event space is available for tuition students.
