March 10, 2011 - The Jacob Cangemi Memorial Scholarship would like to announce the fourth annual Jacob's Run which includes a Competitive 5K Run and 3K Walk for Fun. The event will be held April 30 starting and finishing in the downtown square of Trenton.

"We had another successful event last year. We had returning and new sponsors, 100+ participants and raised over $5,800 to support this very worthy cause," said Race Director and Co-Founder, Renee Cangemi. "We are actively pursuing sponsors to help underwrite the event such as t-shirts, refreshments, awards, etc. We have several sponsorship levels available." said Cangemi. "Visit us at www.jacobsrun.org and go to the sponsor page to either sign up online or access a form to print."

Yvette Oquin, Co-Founder of the Scholarship says, "Our new courses last year were a real hit with both runners and walkers.

The course for the runners is very challenging with varied terrain, including pavement, one mile gravel wooded trail, and some inclines. The walkers follow a shortened version of that course. Visit us at www.jacobsrun.org to find the maps fr both courses. Also find us on Facebook by searching for our Facebook Fan Page 'Jacob's Run' or go to our web page and click the Facebook link."

Laurice Goodwin, Co-Founder of the Scholarship says, "This annual event is the primary fundraiser for the Jacob Cangemi Memorial Scholarship. We offer college scholarships to one Trenton area high school student and one to a student from the Texoma area. Our scholarship is offered to kids who have different learning styles - students who might need additional support to reach their educational potential. We want to not only help these young men and women see college as a reality but to help them stay in college."

The Jacob Cangemi Memorial Scholarship was founded in 2007 by Jacob's mother Renee Cangemi, her sister Yvette Oquin and Laurice Goodwin, Jacob's former teacher and mentor, to honor his memory. Jacob passed away on 07/07/07 due to injuries sustained from a car wreck. In the 18 years that Jacob lived he left an everlasting memory with all that he touched. He was a devoted son and brother, a loyal friend and hard worker. Jacob was a natural born leader and encourager with a heart for people who were struggling. He consistently overcame adversity in his life and was an inspiration to those he touched. It is in this spirit that the Jacob Cangemi Memorial Scholarship was created.
