From the March 3, 1961, edition of The Leonard Graphic:

Burglars Hit Grill

Deputy Sheriff Troy McNear said burglars used the usual method when they hit Grill 69 last Thursday night. They broke the glass in the front door to gain entry. We would say Tom and Janie Peirson aren't very surprised when burglars enter their cafe because it has happened so many times during the past several years.

Grows Tomatoes In Winter

Mrs. W. E. Taylor was in our office Wednesday with a nice ripe tomato that had ripened on a plant she had kept in her kitchen since last December. Mrs. Taylor said she transplanted the tomato plant from her garden to a box and placed it near a window in the kitchen. The plant is of the Porter variety. Growing tomatoes during the winter here is unusual. Mrs. Taylor said she had fresh tomatoes for dinner on March 1st from this plant and from all indications there will be more.
