Feb. 24, 2011 - On Saturday, Feb. 19, ten students from the Leonard High School Band competed in the UIL Region 25 Solo & Ensemble Competition at Prosper High School. The students have been working on preparing their music since early December and the hard work has definitely paid off.
Bailey Anderson (So.) and Rachel Branch (Fr.) performed memorized solos at the competition, bringing home Division 2 Excellent ratings. Brooke Kay (Sr.) and Wesley Orr (Sr.) received Division 1 Superior ratings on their memorized solo that advanced them to the State competition. Also receiving Division 1 Superior ratings and advancing to state are the members of the LHS Saxophone Quartet - Bailey Anderson (So.), Nicholas Hetherington (So.), Jordan Jones (Sr.), and Wesley Orr (Sr.); and the members of the LHS Clarinet Quintet - Anne Burke (Sr.), Elise Hamilton (So.), Brooke Kay (Sr.), Emily McDonald (Fr.), and Jensen Sutton (Fr.)
The UIL State Solo & Ensemble Contest will be held at Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville on May 28.
