Devilettes First Place
Celeste girls moved into first place in the District last week with wins over Blue Ridge and Trenton.
In the Blue Ridge game Celeste won 57 to 51 with Celeste leading 16-7 1st quarter and 30-17 half. Blue Ridge rallied in 4th quarter after Celeste got in foul trouble. Twenty-two fouls were called on Celeste and 7 on Blue Ridge.
Martha Taylor with feeds from Tammy Spoonemore scored the first 10 points. Cindy Speir and Martha Taylor were high with 24 and 17 points.

At Celeste Friday night the Blue Devilettes started strong and had a 41 to 11 halftime lead with Trenton. With good rebounding by Tammy Spoonemore and Martha Taylor and good lead passes from Cheryl Waters to Cindy Speir Celeste built their quick lead. Ruth Hall shot well in the 1st quarter from the outside and Cindy Speir ended the night with 42 points.
Celeste had a battle with Savoy Tuesday night and a win there would almost wrap it up; a loss would end in a tie in the District.

Senior Citizen Night
All Celeste Senior Citizens are invited to the next home game Friday night, February 13 at 7:00 p.m. when Celeste takes on Blue Ridge in the final conference game. All Senior Citizens will be admitted free. Make plans to come that night.

Celeste PTA Meets Thurs.
The Celeste Parent Teachers Association will have a monthly meeting Thursday, February 5 at 7:30 p.m.
The fourth, fifth and sixth grades will present the program.
The Cultural Arts display will be on exhibit. The winner will be announced.
Everyone is invited to attend.
The Homemaking Club will serve tea.

Action Center Makes Plans
According to information received from Mr. Louis Marshall, Director of the Hunt County Committee on Aging, and with the approval of Celeste Board Members and Officers of the Celeste Action Center, the center will be open five days a week, (Monday-Friday) beginning at the time in which they begin meeting in the new Community Room at the new Fire Station later this year. Meetings presently are held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday each week in Fellowship Hall, First Baptist Church.
Anyone desiring to have a part on programs to entertain the group are asked to contact James Sloan, Program Chairman.
Some of the supplies and equipment needed by this group have been purchased through contributions and proceeds from the Bake Sale, but others are still needed. Contributions should be made to Nancy Goodman, Secretary-Treasurer.
Reservations for the noon luncheon may be made by calling Ray or Jo Ann Ethridge at 568-4263.

Celeste Entertains Bland Friday Night; Defeat Campbell
The Celeste Blue Devils set the stage for a final showdown in the Basketball District play Tuesday night by downing the Campbell five at Campbell by the score of 77 to 64. Coach Tillerson and Weatherley’s boys started strong and had a 19 to 9 lead at the first quarter with the sharp shooting of Donnie Evans, who made 13 points in the initial period. Half-time score was 33 to 15.
Donnie ended the night with 30 points followed by Joe Tillerson with 20 and Gerald Eldridge with 12. MikeWeatherley and Jackie Arnwine were outstanding on defense.
The boys play Bland here Friday night and a win for Celeste would put the district in a tie with Bland and Celeste.
The Celeste girls will play the Bland girls in the first game Friday.
The Celeste girls cinched the Round Robin play and now have to win the District Tournament next week in order to win the District. Sarah Roach scored 20 points, followed by Pat Roach with 15 Tuesday night against Campbell. After a slow first quarter, 9-8, the Celeste girls had a 27 to 8 halftime lead. Final score was 58 to 33. Eddie Sue Charlsey did a good job of defending the Campbell six.

Celeste Boys In District Tourney At Caddo Saturday Nite
The Celeste boys will play Quinlan in the first round of the District Tournament at Caddo Saturday night, Feb. 4 at 7:30 o’clock. The boys will play again Tuesday night if they win their first game.
The Celeste girls drew a bye in the first round and will play Friday night, February 10, for their first game.
This District Tournament is a double elimination tournament, a team having to lose two games before they are eliminated.
