Feb. 3, 2011 - The Creative Arts Center Music Committee is gearing up for the third annual Music in the Garden spring concert series. Auditions will be Thursdays, Feb. 10 and 24, at 5:30 p.m. Musicians interested in auditioning should contact the Creative Arts Center at 903-640-2196 for an appointment as soon as possible. The concert series has featured jazz, country, gospel, rock and contemporary Christian music in years past. In addition, Fannin and Grayson County youth musicians were featured throughout the series last year and will be spotlighted again this year.
The six-week concert series will run every Thursday night from May 5 through June 9 starting at 7 p.m. at the Creative Arts Center's beautiful garden, located at 200 W. 5th Street in Bonham. A donation of $5 per family would be appreciated. As in years past, free lemonade and cookies will be served. In addition, the CAC Kids Krew will be selling hot dogs.
Music in the Garden is one of many artistic events sponsored by the Creative Arts Center. New art exhibits are offered at regular intervals. The next exhibit opening is Feb. 25 from 6-8 p.m., and is entitled "Salute to Black History". Youth art and theater classes are offered in addition to adult programs, including photography.
