Feb. 17, 2011 - On Saturday, March 5 at 5 p.m. Sonic of Leonard will host a fundraiser in the Leonard High School commons area for COTA in honor of Madeline Burke. Sonic will have Frito Chili Cheese pies for a flat fee of $5 with all proceeds going to the COTA fund in honor of Madeline. The BETA Club of Leonard High School will have a cold drink area with can drinks iced down for $1 each.
There will be silent auction items to bid on as well as relay races where students will try to convince those in attendance to help them fill up their containers with money in the quickest time. There will also be t-shirts on sale with most of the proceeds going to the COTA fund. Plan now to come out on Saturday, March 5 and eat, drink and bring a pocket full of change to help in the efforts to raise more money for COTA in honor of Madeline Burke. We have around $8,000 to go to reach the $40,000 goal set for this family.
Silent auction items have been received from YMCA of Greenville, Hickory BBQ of Bonham and M & D Sewing of Leonard. If you, as an individual or a company, have an item you would donate for the silent auction, please call Ava Barlow at 903-587-2850 or 972-658-7608. Also, more activities could be added such as a dessert/snack area, coloring contests for smaller attendees, bake sale, craft sale or whatever idea you come up with and are willing to put the effort into. Call Ava, numbers above, with your ideas.
The next fundraiser will be Saturday, May 7 at the Leonard City Park with The Blandelles performing on stage. More activities for this evening will be added, but make plans now to be at the City Park on May 7 for this concert to raise funds for Madeline Burke.
