- A Leonard officer assisted a county deputy with a traffic stop on Feb. 8 at 2:20 a.m. because the deputy believed the driver of the vehicle was intoxicated. The driver was found to be drunk and taken into custody.
- A resident on College Street called police on Feb. 8 at 3:47 p.m. after an unknown man was knocking on her front door, and then went into her garage to knock on the door leading into the house. The officer made contact with the man, who advised he was told that the resident had empty cans that he could get. The woman advised that she told the man that if she had any cans, she would leave them by the side of the road for him. The man was issued a criminal trespass warning.
- A mother contacted authorities on Feb. 8 at 11:30 p.m. after a white Dodge truck had come so close to hitting her 12-year-old son that he had to jump off the road into the ditch. The child was unable to see the driver or get a license plate number.
- An officer took possession of a bicycle on Feb. 10 after they discovered it abandoned on the side of State Highway 78. The bike appears to be relatively new with little to no wear on the peddles or tires. Anybody missing a bicycle is encouraged to call Leonard Police Department at 903-587-2234 and identify to claim the property.
- An officer was called to intervene in a civil matter on Feb. 10. Reports show that a female resident had purchased a used vehicle from a male resident and had a written agreement for the payments. The woman, however, claimed the car had several mechanical problems and was demanding that the man take off the money for the repairs from the balance she owed. The officer encouraged both to work the issue out, but further advised it was a civil matter and any further action would have to come from the justice of the peace court.
- A concerned driver called 911 on Feb. 12 after observing the vehicle in front of them driving very slow and in the wrong lane of traffic. An officer stopped the vehicle and found the driver - a 79-year-old Princeton man - to be very disoriented and confused. He advised he was on his way from the car dealership in McKinney to his home in McKinney, though his driver's license showed he lived in Princeton. The man also didn't know the date or day of the week. The officer phoned the man's wife who advised he wasn't supposed to be driving due to him showing early stages of Alzheimer's. The driver's brother came to the location and picked up the man and his vehicle.
- An officer issued several citations to three teenaged girls from Bells on Feb. 12 during a routine traffic stop. The officer originally stopped the vehicle for speeding, but immediately observed a 30-pack of beer as he approached the vehicle. The officer found that none of the three teens had a valid driver's license and two were in possession of tobacco. The driver was issued five citations - no driver's license, speeding, failure to maintain financial responsibility, minor in possession of tobacco and minor in possession of alcohol. One passenger was issued two minor possession citations - for tobacco and alcohol - and the other was issued one citation for minor in possession of alcohol. The vehicle was towed due to no proof of insurance and no driver's license by any of the occupants.
- An officer assisted a Bonham man on Feb. 12 at 5:40 p.m. after he had locked his keys in his car at Kwik Chek. The officer was able to open the vehicle without any difficulty.
- An escaped cat was turned into police on Feb. 15 after a resident saw it jump out of a green van at the hardware store in Leonard. The cat is mostly cream in color with white markings and has blue eyes.
