Feb. 10, 2011 - Leonard Intermediate campus of LISD was recently named a 2010 National Center for Educational Achievement school. Principal Brandi Savage received a letter with a certificate notifying the intermediate campus of the honor bestowed on them.

Schools receiving this honor have consistently outperformed their peers that serve similar student populations, and recognizes their achievement in bringing more students to college and career readiness than expected. They are identified by one of two measures: academic growth of students at the school and/or absolute achievement of students at the school using the TAKS' Commended Performance level. The measures exemplify not only those schools that are able to improve their students' performance from previous years but also those schools that push their students beyond the Met Standard.

The Director of Outreach for NCEA/ACT stated in the letter to Savage, "We are truly grateful for the dedication of you and your team in serving students. Your presence on the 2010 NCEA Higher Performing Schools list not only demonstrates your belief that all students are capable of graduating prepared for college and careers, but also your commitment to making it happen."

The standards showed the Leonard Intermediate campus to be testing at the commended level in reading, mathematics and social studies and having improved in the science level to be brought up to the commended level.
